Who we are and what we stand for

The TERESIAN CARMELITE MISSIONARIES (CMT) are a Congregation of Spanish origin, founded in Ciudadela (Menorca, Spain) by FRANCIS PALAU QUER of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, a Discalced Carmelite.

Like our Founder, The Teresian Carmelite Missionaries feel a living part of the family of Carmel end inheritors of Teresian spirituality.

We have come into existence from the charismatic experience Father Francis Palau had of the mystery of the Church.

We are a missionary Congregation with a spirituality centred on Church and the Virgin Mary. This spirituality shapes our vocation as Church, in the Church and for the Church:

PRIORITY is given to a life of love of God and neighbour as a unity = CHURCH

WE CONTEMPLATE AND LOVE Christ and human beings as the Mystical Body: The "Church" represented in Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

WE PROCLAIM the beauty of the Church, Mystery of Communion, with our life in "united family groups"

WE SERVE the Church in her most needy members and we are ever watchful  to respond to her urgent needs. Mary, the Mother of God, encourages us in this attitude of willingness.

Our Venerable Sr TERESA MIRA GARCIA  of the Child Jesus of Prague, lived in this manner with a life that was simple and committed.

FIELDS AND ACTIVITIES

Love of Christ and his Church were inseparably united in Blessed Francis Palau’s experience. His missionary charism, in the Palautian family, is particularly expressed in those works we take on as service to the Church:

The pastoral ministry of spirituality.
Christian education of children, teenagers and adults.
Helping the sick and those in need.
The mission ad gentes.
Advising and training the MILPA groups.
Other forms of apostolate serving the Church and society.

Along the road to renewed fidelity to the Church, we contemplate   Mary, the perfect and consummate exemplar of Church. She keeps us alert in accepting the challenges arising from situations and the appeals of the Church.
